The Shanghai Masters 2024 final is set! Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic secured their spots with impressive semifinal victories.
Sinner Secures Year-End No. 1 with Win over Machac
Jannik Sinner dominated Tomas Machac 6-4, 7-5 to reach his first Shanghai final. Sinner's victory also guarantees him the ATP Year-End No. 1 ranking, a historic first for an Italian player. Machac, who upset Carlos Alcaraz earlier in the tournament, fought hard but couldn't match Sinner's consistency and shot selection.
"I just try to stay calm," Sinner said after the match. "It’s not every day it will be the same. I’m just looking forward to [the final], to play every match I can in the best possible way and to try to find a solution somehow."

Djokovic Overcomes Fritz in Thrilling Match
Novak Djokovic battled past Taylor Fritz 6-4, 7-6(8/6) in a tense encounter. Djokovic, seeking his 100th ATP title, overcame a strong challenge from Fritz and a late-match hip issue to secure his place in the final.
Despite Fritz's powerful serving and aggressive baseline play, Djokovic took the first set with relative ease. However, a hip problem troubled Djokovic in the second set, requiring a medical timeout. Fritz had a set point at 6-5 in the tie-break, but Djokovic rallied to win the next three points and clinch the match.
"I had some issues on the court - physically - here today but managed to overcome it," Djokovic commented. "It always takes it out of me, particularly towards the end of the tournament and at this stage of my career I'm doing my best to recover."
